At Luchetti Krelle, I had the opportunity to work with one of the sponsors of Sydney's 2013 Laneway Music Festival, Toko Japanese Restaurant. I managed the design, fit-out, and installation for both the interior and outdoor spaces for the music event located in Sydney College of the Arts.

The concept of Japanese Laneway is the result of marrying the theme of our sponsor (Toko Japanese restaurant) with the name of the festival (Laneway).
Entertainment Area - Daytime / Artist collaboration with Julian Meagher. The artist's eastern tattoos painting prints are paired with strung Daiso Japanese banners. The banners lower the spatial height of the colonial building and create intimacy for the users.
Entertainment Area - Evening / Artist collaboration with the graduationg students of Sydney College of the Arts. As the school ground sits as the site of the festival, we select a few of the graduation art pieces to style the indoor entertainment areas.

To mimic the view of the stacked cable lines commonly found in Japanese laneway, we install a series of

Daiso Japanese banners and string them on black ropes. These banners lower the spatial height of the colonial building, providing a sense intimacy for the users.
Lanterns become a recurring theme in this fit-out. In high traffic areas, lanterns strung on cables decorate the sky.
In the retreat areas where VIP seating is designed to be an ethereal escapade from the hyped up-energy of the festival, lanterns are installed as close to the ceiling as possible, creating pools of dim lights 'in the indoor sky'. For seating, we use materials commonly found in laneways, such as milk crates covered in carton boxes.
Aside from design, I also selected materials that are design-complementary and cost effective, coordinated between suppliers and site staffs and formulated budget for the project.
I managed off-site preparation of graphic design artwork, lighting fixture and styling accessories in order to ensure successful set up on the day of the festival.
