Working at the intersection of tech and design, I've had the privilege of influencing spaces, content and digital products.
I currently lead developer community in TikTok in APAC. With over 3 years in community management for various genre of creators: AR creators; music creators; influential short video creators with following between 500,000 to 12 millions. It's been a privilege and a wild journey to devise and execute initiatives to not only grow these communities but also develop promising individuals.
Born in Indonesia, lived in the UK and Beijing, and currently is residing in Sydney, I have an extensive experience and real passion for the APAC region. It helps that I speak 3 languages spoken in the region fluently, and am learning my fourth.
I am forever seeking out new opportunities to apply design thinking in various disciplines: education; social innovation; business design. In the past, I have founded digital platforms and design studio in China and Indonesia.
One of them is Easy Store, a one-stop, English-focused solution for storage, that came out of COVID-19 and the suspension of foreigners' entry into the country. We worked on a solution for our international communities stuck outside of China. In the span of 2 months, we have helped over 50 clients from 21 different countries safely sort and store their belongings.
This belief that design thinking and human-centred design should be integrated across sectors began when I founded Aspec, an online catalogue system and community of building-design professionals in Indonesia. After its launch in 2016, the platform improved efficiency for local designers to specify materials for their projects and simultaneously helped local businesses showcase their products to global audience. While no longer active, Aspec gave me the opportunities to learn firsthand about the unequal distribution of resources and information in developing countries like Indonesia - which lead me to pursue a Master of Public Policy at Tsinghua University, under the scholarship of Tanoto Foundation.
Prior to that, my Bachelor in Interior Architecture (Honours) from the UNSW lead me to design educational spaces in Australia. My team at Tanner Kibble Denton Architects developed design solutions that fostered collaborative learning spaces for various K1-12 and and tertiary institutions. Prior to that at Black Line Retail, I developed design strategies that translated brands & ideas into tailored retail spaces for projects throughout Australia, South Africa and United States.
After hours, I ride my bike to explore different corners of the city, or share the ultimate travel guide and migration/social-anthropological thoughts on
Medium.
I love working in teams and believe that great design can best be accomplished by multidisciplinary teams. I’m always interested in new ideas and perspectives. If you find yourself in Sydney, I’d love to meet and talk more about the design, architecture, human behaviour and history.
Thanks for stopping by,
V
